If you are in the neighborhood, come on over....the pineapple sour cream coffee cake is still warm. It will only take a few minutes to put on tea. Or if you prefer, I can make coffee.
Today is another day of "serious" gardening. I decided to make a dessert before I head outside to play in the dirt.
This is a simple NO-recipe recipe. It is a easy one-layer cake batter adding sour cream. The topping is brown sugar, drained crushed pineapple sprinkled with my home grown pecans.
In fact, the pecans came from this very large tree that is near the big garden. There are three more pecan trees scattered around the house. Each one is a different variety of pecan. They are very old trees and produce a large amount of nuts.
You have guessed it right. I've sampled the cake while writing this post....just the right amount of sweetness!

Ooh Meggie, I'll have a slice please! And a cappuccino. I don't want much do I, haha. Looks delicious. Have a lovely weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cappuccino machine, but I'm sure we could figure out something. Hope you have a good week end too.
DeleteI'll be round in an instant. How wonderful that cake looks. You do live in the most beautiful place, it is worth all the hard work you have done/do, Meggie.
ReplyDeleteBring your gardening jeans and I'll put the tea on! I know I'm very lucky. But, I look at your photos, and know, your place is beautiful too!
DeleteIt's mid-afternoon here - just the perfect time for coffee and cake. How wonderful to have your own nut trees!
ReplyDeleteCome on over...I think Elaine is on her way too! Scarlet, if we lived closer together, I would share my pecans with you. That is also why I've planted so many seedlings. I'm sharing them with 3 or 4 other families to help their food budget.
DeleteMy kind of breakfast! A slice and mug of hearty tea would be most welcome! And the pecans! The store price of pecans have made them a precious commodity.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the price of gasoline to go to the store and buy that "precious" commodity?
Deletehello meggie,
