Mouth of Truth....Country Style
This is an actual tree very close to the farm. I dare say, I did NOT put my hand in the hole to check it out! But, I do find the image, of the hollowed out opening, very intriguing.
Does it remind you of anything? How about the Bocca della Verita , the Mouth of Truth, in Rome, Italy.
Did you see the classic movie, Roman Holiday, starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn?
Have a wonderful Spring weekend...

Thanks for the reminder of one of our all time favorite movies! No matter how many times I watch it I am still convinced there will be a different ending :)
ReplyDeleteIt is one of my favorite movies too!
DeleteMeggie you have a brilliant sense of humour! The tree is beautiful, all that texture on the bark - what kind is it? You have reminded me that we are long overdue to watch that great old film again. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elaine. As I've said before, the thoughts and words just pop into my head. I believe the tree is an oak tree, just like the post I did on the heritage trees. The bark is so wonderful to examine. I may have to watch the movie again, myself....
DeleteYes it does remind me of the movie...yours though, seems to be "singing" and aria :-D Thank you for the memory of a really great movie with two of my favorite actors.
ReplyDeleteWhen Kelly lost her hair from the chemo, she posted a photo of Telly Savalas on Facebook as her "doppleganger." I played along (as did others) and posted Audrey Hepburn as mine. Love the memory<3
Susan, Thank so much for your thoughtful comments. I had to look up "doppleganger" Great word to learn. Hope you are having a great week end...
DeleteWow! How neat. I wouldn't put my hand in there either, but it sure looks mysterious ;)

Hi Jaime....wish I had a flash light when I found the tree. But, I'm still not sure I would have put my face that close to look in....
DeleteDear Meggie, I love Mr Gregory Peck and his wonderful movies very much expecially 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.
ReplyDeleteMouth of truth seems so exciting and mystic. I remembered Alice in wonderland...
Hello Beck, So glad your mother enjoyed looking at my blog. I wish she had a tiny garden to tend to. Wasn't Gregory Peck the most handsome of men?
DeleteI would hesitate to put my arm in there for fear of what would bite me for home invasion!
ReplyDeleteMs Sparrow.....that made me laugh. You are so right. Surely something has taken this wonderful hollow as a home.
DeleteDont think I would dare put my arm in either! I am terrified of spiders so could imagine several large monster ones in there (I have a very vivid imagination).
ReplyDeleteSaw on our news this morning that Texas was going to be having some really bad storms today, has that happened and are you all ok?
Hi Anne....I'm sure something is living in there!
DeleteThe wind has been very strong all day and will continue into the night. I'm just waiting to see what happens. I do live on a hill and it does get a little scary sometimes.
To all my friends who read this blog....The weather is very turbulent here today with the high winds swirling around. I'm just waiting to see what happens. I am following the weather reports closely. It has been very bad throughout the upper states today with rain, hail and tornadoes. You can be sure, if it turns for the worse, I will be staying downstairs tonight. Thanks for thinking about me...

That's awesome, Meggie! It really does look like a face!
ReplyDeleteI loved that movie.....
