Lily's Art Work

You may be familiar with the artist, Paul Klee, born in Switzerland, in 1879. This is my granddaughter's interpretation of his famous painting called, Senecio.

So what is so special about her painting, other than the fact that she is my granddaughter? She is only 6 years old.

This is a borrowed photo of Paul Klee's painting.

She and her brother attend this amazing school, of my daughter's choosing, that encourages each child's creative side. While doing the research on Paul Klee, I found Miss G's Art Room. I hope you check it out and see what dedicated and creative teachers are doing with the younger generation.

And on that same note:  In the future, I will write a post about "My Son, the Amazing Teacher".

This week end I have been spending all my time with family. My oldest daughter and her two children (my name is Grandmother here!) are on holiday, visiting from Florida. I've had the chance to visit with all my children and their families.

It is a week end of wonderful memories I will cherish for a long time.......

Celebrate Today,
Meggie Mac

  1. Meggie, your granddaughter is very talented! My granddaughter, Maddie attends a school that teaches through art and she's loving it. I'm having "Camp Mimi's" here the end of July with both her and Ari, and I'm sure we'll have lots of artwork, baking, and exploring that we'll be doing. It will be the highlight of my summer!
    Grandchildren are really the best!<3Susan

  3. Nice to know art is still important in the classroom (at least in some schools). Your granddaughter's work is impressive! (And so was Miss G's teaching.) Sounds like you are having a wonderful weekend and I'll bet your grandchildren are too.

  8. Lily's painting is very beautiful.

It's so good to see schools encouraging creativity (especially in the very young) and it's about time that talents were celebrated in all areas rather just focussing on academic achievements.

  9. Lily has a very good eye for colour - something she gets from Grandma maybe? It's also great to see that her talent is being encouraged and nurtured. I believe strongly in Gardner's multiple intelligences - unfortunately many of them are overlooked in the British education system thanks to the government's pre-occupation with academia and testing. It's lovely to hear that you had a wonderful visit with your family.
