This is what it looks like on The Prairie when a summer storm rolls in. You can hear the thunder rumbling and see the lighting in the distance.
Where ever I stand on the farm, I can see the horizon. So, storms coming in can be very intimidating.
The winds became stronger making the trees swirl around. I got so excited that this photo is out of focus. But, I wanted you to see how dark it became at 6 pm.
As usual, the electricity has gone off a couple of times and the Dish connection for the TV has been interrupted. Forty-five minutes later, the storm has moved on.
I thank God for the much needed rain.......
Meggie Mac
It looks really threatening here, but only a few drops! Looks like most of it will go around us.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I don't miss those thunderstorms; we rarely have them here in the Seattle area, in fact, in 11 years I've never seen one. It's funny that earthquakes don't bother me, but thunderstorms and moreover, tornadoes scare the bajeebers out of me and always have!
ReplyDeleteI hoping that rain heads towards Colorado where we have so many friends facing a horrible fire.
Love you, XOXO
Ohhh... we JUST finished getting through our version of that same kind of storm... Black skies, loud thunder, violent winds... such a change from the hot humid day we had. It's lovely to have a nice cool breeze now that the storm had passed, though :) The window are open and the fresh smell is heavenly!
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic shots! Love those dark skies.
ReplyDeleteBig skies and big storms! I hope you got that much needed rain. After all the rain over here they are finally, today, going to declare that the drought restrictions have been lifted. The 'garden boy' will be delighted! ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery dark and broody skies. We haven't had a thunder storm for quite a while - probably because they are sparked by hot weather here and that's a rare occurrence!
ReplyDeleteYou can have some of our rain if you want Meggie, we have plenty! Although it is nice and sunny here at the moment. Bet it doesn't last. Have a nice week, lovely Meggie xxx
ReplyDeleteOh the sky is almost black so I hope you got the rain. Have a great day.
