Reflection in Mirror |
This is Step One, Phase One of updating the bathroom at Das Kleine Haus.
When I bought the house this is how it was dressed up.
And this is what was behind that beautiful curtain....
I don't believe much water came out of the shower head and the left facet handle fell off when I touched it.
My friend, and professional paint expert, Cipriano, arrived on Saturday with his son. He had previously re-finished a tub, for me, at the farm.
I bought all the supplies at the local hardware store; re-finishing kit (epoxy paint), 0000 steel wool for sanding, and most important the respirator to cover your mouth and nose. Cipriano's son is working on the first step, by sanding all the surfaces.
Believe it or not, this is the reflection from the light of the window.
And, two hours later, we have magic !!

As good as new!
ReplyDeleteI really should post a picture of my bathroom, I do believe it is the ugliest in the world.

Oh the horrors behind that curtain. But it's looking good now! An amazing transformation - and in such a short time too. Lovely job, Meggie. You'll soon be breaking out the bath oils and bubble bath.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elaine....it has a way to go before I will be singing, "Splish Splash I was taking a Bath"!
DeleteYou are a woman of many talents! And, I love those old tubs, so much that when we did a renovation a few years ago on our bathroom, I had the "jacuzzi" tub removed so I could have a pedestal tub put in. It brought back memories of taking of bath when I was younger at my grandparents. Who needs a jacuzzi anyway--just soaking with a book after a long day is what's relaxing to me. Beautiful job. XOXO
ReplyDeleteYou know, Susan, I have a jacuzzi tub at the farm that I never used. I will enjoy this old tub much more!
DeleteYes I like your bath tub, now it seems so new and so clean.. And the tub seems vintage.. You have very good neighbours..
ReplyDeleteGood works...
Hi Beck....the house is over 100 years old. I'm guessing the tub is almost that old. "Vintage" now has some new life to it.
DeleteWow, how amazing has that bath turned out?! Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne....It really reflects like the photos. They did a beautiful job on it. The kit was less than $35.00.
DeleteLove these old tubs and what a great job of refinishing!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda....I'm so glad I decided to keep the tub. It is now as beautiful as a new one.
DeleteBeautiful! I hope it lasts a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteI had a tub like that in a house I rented almost 40 years ago--I wish I still had the tub! (It took me a year to discover Zud and get the stains out!)
Well, the curtain was pretty! Your bath looks like new now. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's all finished. xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, I so love that you got that result....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on the tub!
ReplyDeleteYour "new" tub is really beautiful. It looks brand new!!! We have had several clawfeet tubs in houses that we lived in and I loved them too. I wish I was 20 years younger, I would look for a 2-story Victorian house to decorate and enjoy. I'm always checking your blog to see what you are up to next. Can't wait to see your home when you are moved in and settled. It takes lots of back breaking work but will be worth it in the long run..:-)
