Looking down at the top of the free-blown vase almost gives the appearance of flower petals. If you look closely, you can see how the glass loops over-lap in a irregular pattern.
I enjoy sharing the history of my show and tell pieces, but in this case, there is not much to tell. Being free-blown by the glass blower, it is a one of a kind vase.

Placing the vase on it's side, over the white tiles, you can see the rich color of the cobalt blue. The vase measures about 10" tall.
I cannot help wondering, what inspired the glass blower to make this unusual design....

Thanks Jane...It is so much fun to find something like this at a re-sale shop for just a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteHow how pretty,,,I love Cobalt Blue and this one is so interesting. I like the idea of Thursday Show and Tell, something to think about and interesting too.
ReplyDeleteI remembered when my children were in grade school. We were always looking for something for them to bring, from home, for "Show and Tell". I thought it would work for the blog, too!

ReplyDeleteMs Sparrow....thank you.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous vase! I love the top and think about how it acts as a flower frog to separate the blooms. Beautiful color! Thanks for sharing this!!! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteHello Linda...I wonder if that was what the glass blower was thinking when he made the loops. It makes a perfect flower frog....
