Thursday Show and Tell from Vintage Kitchen

Over the years of my collecting, this is the only green depression glass measuring cup I have seen in this particular style.

What I find so unique is the solid handle.

It also has a very generous spout.

As you can see, it holds 2-cups for measuring.

This photo gives you a better look at the solid handle.

Although I would not consider selling my vintage cup, I did a search today, on the Internet. I found one selling for $49.00.

That price really surprises me, since I paid $3.50 for the measuring cup, at an estate sale.

Don't you just love it when you know you found a bargain?

  1. A really beautifull green measuring jug Meggie,
I havent had a measuring jug in more than over 30 years.
    My mother had a few.
As the family flew the nest.. i baked less and less.
you did indeed get a good bargain.

    1. Hello Val...I still bake and cook a small amount each week...but, you are right, as the children grew up and left home, my baking has slowed down.

  2. Hmmm. Makes me wish I'd bought the one I saw last week at my local market. But I did get something else - in green Depression glass. Isn't it pretty!

  6. It seems like depression glass is getting harder to find all the time. It's all been snatched up by collectors. I used to love vaseline glass but that's getting scarce too.

  7. I love it. I remember my mother having green depression ware. Little did I know it would disappear and become a memory. I love the color and how fresh it looks . . . memories of Momma in the kitchen come to mind, My Mom was a fantastic cook :)
