A Castle in Scotland....not today !
To me, the barbed wire fence and bluebonnets, shout "Texas".
Even the windows remind me of some of the stone castles I saw on my recent holiday, in Scotland.
Looking closer, I see the walls are Texas Limestone.
I was totally surprised when I spotted the structure. It is on one of the country roads I frequently travel.
Don't you love discovering something new in a familiar place?

Now that's a great find! I agree, bluebonnets and fences scream Texas.
ReplyDeleteI had to look to the far right to notice it. In fact, I drove past it, and decided to back up (you can do that on a country road) and take some photos. Glad I did.
DeleteThat is a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteEven the entrance road is too far for me to get a closer look. It is truly beautiful...
DeleteLooks fascinating; but what is it? I'm guessing a prison.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not a prison...in fact, there are no prison close-by. It is someone's home nestled in the trees.
Deletewonder who built it and why they chose that castle motif. interesting! thanks for linking in, meggie!
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy with the move, that I have not had a chance to ask around. Still can't believe this is the first time I've noticed it.
DeleteMy goodness....I said that out loud! That is amazing! What a beautiful place you found...and I LOVE Texas! How neat!
ReplyDeleteSince writing the post, I have found out it is diffently someone's home. I understand it even has a moat and drawbridge.
Deleteyes, i love finding new in familiar surroundings. so yes! always. i find it so interesting & fun. ( :
ReplyDeleteIt seems no matter how many times I travel down the same roads, I manage to find a surprise ! Life is good !!
DeleteWhat a hideaway you have discovered !

Beautiful shots. Love all of the bluebonnets.
ReplyDeleteThat "castle" is totally awesome!!..Wouldn't you love to meet the people that built it? And maybe get invited to dinner? I love all of the flowers too. The poppies are gorgeous but are they considered a noxious weed, like the beautiful purple thistles that grow in Iowa? I hope you can find out more about the mystery castle home..
ReplyDeleteA mystery castle---how interesting. Love it. MB
ReplyDeleteI've been to Texas once in the Spring to see the Blue Bonnets and was blown away by their color. Someone obviously believes in magic and built this amazing castle to prove it; isn't it nice to know there are still mysteries to be discovered! XOXO
ReplyDeleteHow amazing! A touch of magic for sure, that castle. I have never seen a blue-bonnet. They sound so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous! Beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteI do love discovering new places...it is funny how you can travel a road for so long and then spot something new. Seems like a lot of times we take the same road, going the same direction, and then if we happen on it coming from the other direction, it all looks so different.
