The Old Country Church
lyrics by JD Sumner
" Oh I'd like to go back
To that old country church
To hear the songs of praise
How the people would sing
It would make the rafters ring
At that old, that old country church"

ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, for taking notice of the lyrics.....The song came to mind, while editing the photo.
ReplyDeleteA nice old country church, are those front windows boarded up or is it just artistic licence with the windows?
ReplyDeleteDiana
It's actually the first time I have ever seen anything like it....it appears to be an ornamental iron frame that is hung on top of the wood. There is no window behind either frame.
Deletei want to sing too ... what a cutie. ( :
ReplyDeleteThanks Beth......
DeleteNice view down on the Chruch, like the painted on windows
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill.....

Thanks Valerie....I've enjoyed your photo of the "new colt".
DeleteA sweet church. Love the field around it. I can imagine little kids running around there after a service.
ReplyDeleteI can too !! I'm guessing the congregation parks on the grass...
DeleteHi Meggie! Love this little country church! What a peaceful setting. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen...I tried to show how it is nestled at the bottom of a hill...
DeleteI love your church photos. There is just something about a church in the country. There is an old church a few miles from me, I will have to go there and take some pictures. It's called Harris Grove and is only used for a special event now and then. BTW, have you thought anymore about doing some hand embroidery?
ReplyDeleteI try to make each one unique...sometimes that isn't easy. The fact that this one is at the bottom of a protected hill, made it so interesting to me...also no parking lot ! I know it is an active church, from the sign along the road. I will try the embroidery when things settle down a bit....I'm buying another home on the prairie...I'll write a post when I start the project.
DeleteAre you leaving your forest cottage?
Deleteyes.....I'm a prairie girl. I still spend time there, so I'm going to buy another house.
DeleteWhat a pretty location it has. After attending a Sunday church service, it could be so inspiring to walk out in nature.
