Here is a small Texas town, population 2,000....
known for it's love of baseball !
There are no shortages of fencing to photograph at a baseball park.
A real tribute to our veterans......

Lighting that soars high in the sky...
for those perfect Texas evening summer games.
Another fence view, with Home Plate in the background.
Much to my surprise,
one of my photos caught a baseball,
left behind from a recent game.

That's pretty impressive, especially for a small town of 2,000. I'm afraid I know little about baseball, except that it's an up-market version of rounders. Talking of sport, the question on everyone's lips is will Scotland or the USA win the rugby on Sunday? Unfortunately, I'll miss the England-Wales match - I'll be in Scotland...
ReplyDeleteHello Mike....I've just spent some time on your blog, reading several posts. Your blog and posts continue to amaze me with beautiful photos and tons of history. I did read about "rounders" while I was writing this post. I think we Americans like to think we invented baseball. And, I must admit, I know nothing about rugby.
Deleteah, i like baseball, too. and really like those veterans' murals.
ReplyDeleteBaseball has always been my favorite too! I also love the way the surrounding communities celebrate and honor our veterans. There is a real feeling of family in my part of Texas.
DeleteThat's beautiful. And it's nice to see a community that gets so excited about something and works together so well. We have an example here near home--Macklin SK Canada hosts a Bunnock tournament every August. It is so much fun, the whole town volunteers and I think it brings about a million dollars into the local economy in one weekend. Truly inspiring. Great pictures, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI believe the town of Weimer is involved with the Babe Ruth League, or at least they were a few years ago. The Public High School also has a baseball program.
DeleteThose are some nice fence choices. I used to look through lots of fences at different baseball fields when our sons played.
ReplyDeleteThe tribute fences are really cool!
My fences are here...http://happywonderer.com/
Me, too! All three of my children were playing at the same time. I spent many a Saturday....all day, at the ball park.
DeleteBall parks do have fences for sure but not many have such a cool Mural on their fence like this one. It was fabulous.

Thanks for your comment, Ida. The mural is what caught my eye first. Small towns seems to pay more attention to their vets...I see this in all the small communities around me.
DeleteI love that mural and love the sky in the photos below it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose....I find that sometimes an ordinary photo becomes spectacular from the clouds in the sky.
