Traditionally, the Advent Wreath has four candles, three purple and one rose colored.
Each candle has a special meaning.
The first purple candle, symbolizing Hope, was lit yesterday.
For many Christians, the Advent Wreath
is our way to celebrate the four weeks,
leading up to Christmas Day.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rose....and I might add, I loved "the house in Howe" photo, you posted yesterday.
DeleteLovely picture, Meg. Wishing you light and love xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jacqui....My wish is the same for you.
DeleteI remember the advent wreaths of my childhood fondly. It was always a special moment to light a new candle on Sundays. Somehow I have not continued my mothers tradition. x
ReplyDeleteI'm just the opposite....I remember the advent wreath always in church...only in the last few years, I have added to the tradition of having one in my home, too.
DeleteI always look forward to singing "Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel" during Advent. Sure enough, we sang it Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThose traditional songs always bring a flood of memories to me....
DeleteOooh, our candles are red with the white one for Christmas day- I like purple!x
