Texas Castle on the Prairie...for Monday's Country Backroads

From reading my blog,
you know how much I talk about the country back roads...
they never disappoint me.

Today is not the first time to see this real-life castle.

It is located on one of my most often traveled back roads.
The road leads to a wonderful small town about 14 miles away from the bungalow.
Usually the foliage hides all but the very tallest part of the castle.

If you might be wondering...
it is a private home.

So you might get a sense of how far away I took these photos,
here is where I am standing.

Since taking these photos, I have learned the name of the family.
How delightful it would be, to get an invite for afternoon tea?
No doubt, I would be bringing my camera!

Monday is off to a great start....
Enjoy your week.

    1. I agree with you about their privacy. That is why I didn't mention the castle name. Whatever I photograph, I always try to take in account, the privacy of others.

  4. WOW,I would love to hear more about the castle. Why would someone build it there, how old is it? See you have gotten me really interested in it. HA! HA!

  5. Hello Betty...It's not very old. By that, I mean, it is modern. I'm guessing less than 10 years old. The stone looks too clean to have been setting there for very long.
As to why would one build a castle....I guess if you love castles and have the money, why not !

  6. How wonderful that you get to see it and photograph it.

I was looking on google earth and found a castle here in Indiana, but now I cannot remember quite where. I know it was close to someplace we had been at that time. That was why I was looking in the area.

  8. I can imagine you on your adventurous road trip with a camera at the reach and perhaps a hat, map, water bottle, a sandwich... Do you know the history of the place? Is there a hill nearby to get such stones to build?

    1. So you know me all too well...always a hat, for it is either the sun or wind that I face on most days. As for the history...At this point in time, there is not much to tell. Still hoping to get an invite. And yes, stones like this are probably no more than an hour away.
