Purple Rain and Out of Control Water.....for Friday Fences

 

 

 

This is what happens when large amounts of rain falls,

 in a very short period of time.

Luckily, the local Ace Hardware Store only lost a fence,

 to the strong waters 

 

It has been a week of heavy rains here in my part of Texas.

 Monday alone, the rain gauge indicated 13 inches of rain.

 

 

Ground saturated,

 my own property saw swift moving waters,

leaving behind debris caught in the fence.

Gathering Strength From Each Other..... for Monday's Country Back Roads

This is not the first time,

 my camera has captured these two old barns.

 

They speak out to me.

 So much so,

 that I cannot pass by them without a quick look.

 

You do the math....driving by once a week, 

 for more than 15 years.

 

True friends 

holding each other up, as the years pass by.

 

Monday, on the Prairie, started with storms and 14 inches of rain.

The sun is now shining...

 from straying to the country road. 

 

Sometimes it doesn't take much, to remind us

 not to step off in deep waters.

Monday's Country Back Roads....Leading Me to Another Small Community

 

Do you recognize this bloom?

It's a trumpet shaped flower, that has fallen from a tree.

 

Earlier today, I took a little side trip to the nearby town of Flatonia, Texas....

always looking for adventure and new things that might interest you, dear readers.

 

You may remember Flatonia from my post Observing a Mural Artist at Work

 

 

There was a strong wind blowing, as it usually does in the Spring.

The delicate blooms were floating down like paper confetti....

  landing on the ground beneath.

 

 

 If it were not for the beautiful blooms, the tree could easily go unnoticed.

 

 

The flowers grow in clusters,

 like small nosegays decorating the tree.

 

 

You may have guessed by now...

It is the Southern Catalpa Tree.

 

A friend gave me a three foot catalpa,

 started from a single seed.

Beauty in the Simple Things...for Friday Fences

 

Although the temperatures are quickly warming

 on the Blackland Prairie,

 the hills are still covered with Spring flowers.

 

 

 

The Texas Paintbrush appears like a carpet,

covering entire hills and roadsides.

 

 

Nestled among the native grasses, our state flower,

The Blue Bonnet, lines the backroads.

 

Simple pleasures to freely enjoy.
